Cardedu is the youngest town of Ogliastra. Indeed, the village was built in 1951 by the inhabitants of Gairo, a close small village, that often suffered from inundation.
However, if the city does not have any ancient monuments within its walls, thanks to its vast surface, about 2000 hectares, it concentrates some archaeological treasures, such as nuraghes, Domus de Janas and also a holy well called “Su Presoneddu”.
The more... fertile surrounding soils, naturally irrigated by the water going down the hills, ensure the village a great farm production, especially in wines, milk and cheese. So is tasty the local gastronomy!
The village also offers an interesting panorama on the “Mont Ferru” (875m) and on its Mediterranean vegetation rich in hundred-year-old trees.
Its coast, exposed to the sirocco, is the heaven for surfers, and also presents small yellow creeks and bays, that contrasts with the green of the vegetation and the red of the different berries.
So is Cardedu an ideal destination for who is looking for relaxing holidays in Sardinia without the crowd. less
